It's often the way in life that when everything seems to be getting busier and busier around you, the comfortable, controlled way you're used to living has to be put to one side while you keep up. You get caught in the race of life and struggle to keep pace with the leaders.
We all get like this from time to time and often without realising why. It happened to me recently and even though I knew it was coming (due to my schedule at work) I still found myself running to keep up rather than growing and developing.

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.” Albert Einstein
One of the traits of any consistently successful person is their ability to imagine the finishing line, even when they have no comprehension of what it actually looks like. We all have this same ability, it's just that not all of us know to activate it or why it works. If you can see your goal, you can make it happen. Read More

"Well defined goals are like magnets, the better you chisel them the more they pull." Jim RohnIt's true what they say, "any goal is better than nothing at all" but I'm not here to advocate simply having a goal just for the sake of it. When you set a goal properly, you open up a well of power inside of you that can completely change how you approach your dreams in life.
Create enough reasons
When I'm speaking in schools, I get a lot of people (teachers particularly) who want me to motivate their kids. It's not uncommon for me to hear the phrase "So Ben has come in today from a company called No Limits to motivate you" as part of my introduction before I begin my talk. Hearing it always fills me with a sense that I'm about to take on an impossible task. Read More
Putting A Time Limit On Who You Are?

Today's post is written by Jared Matthew Kessler. Jared writes for jaredmatthewkessler.com, simple unconventional insights (for you and your business). I'm thrilled to have such a talented writer like Jared here. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.Time and time again, I see these self imposed time limits people put on things - and if a goal or dream doesn't happen during the time we set for it to happen... people just seem to be settling for a regular job. I'll be honest, though... this same thing happened to me. Not just with my book - but just about everything I've done. The thing is, I believe we need to change and evolve to a certain point. But changing yourself to the core just to "pay the bills?" C'mon that is ridiculous! So how do you keep pressing on and at the same time, keep true to yourself (even if things don't happen during the time you want it to)? *Lift yourself up, don't beat yourself up. Just a few weeks ago I saw a sign that says, "Overnight success is 20 years in the making." I thought, "Shit... I remember it saying 10 years. Who just added the extra 10?" Read More
An interview with a Life Coach – Christine Livingston
Posted by Ben Lumley on Mar 1, 2010 in Dealing with Problems, Goals, Success, Think Differently | 58 comments
I have recently been thinking about my direction in life. I know that I want to help people, as I already do with young people, so I've been thinking about ways that I can do that on a personal level. Reading around the blogs that I make time to read on a weekly basis I've come across the idea of Life Coaching. This is an idea that has really excited me and has left me wanting more information. So I thought I'd ask a Life Coach that I knew, Christine Livingston from A Different Kind of Work who was amazingly helpful, along with Jen from Reach Our Dreams. I recently ask Christine if she would mind answering some questions for me on what being a Life Coach involves and how it impacts on people's lives so that I could share their answers on 6aliens.com. What you read below are her insightful answers to my questions.
If you haven't come across Christine before this interview, it will be a real eye opener into what she does and how she approaches life. Also check her out at A Different Kind of Work.
Can you describe, Christine, what role a life coach plays in someone's life?
Good question, Ben! A coach’s role is to help another person – or indeed, a couple, or a team – to achieve something they really want to achieve, or to change something they really want to change.
