Work harder on yourself than you do on your job ~ Jim Rohn
So I'm sat here after what feels like a really unpleasant few weeks. Nothing particularly bad has happened, just lots of little things building up and gaining momentum that have made me feel like I'm dragging a weight behind me that I can't shake. Coupled to that has been the feeling that something wasn't right, like I was a bit lost and I could quite figure out why. Then the penny dropped. I'd stopped working on me. And instantly the weight and feeling was gone. Read More

Today's post is by Krishna, owner of Lifesher.blogspot.com. He writes articles related to succeeding in life by balancing work & life, achieving goals, motivation, personality development, planning, relationships & self improvement.
It’s everyone's wish to find happiness in the job or work which they are doing. Without that you can’t succeed in the work you are doing or intend to do. Many of us yearn for that passion and happiness which only a few manage to find. Passion for work is a vital element if we wish to be happy. But somewhere down the line we lose the passion for our work and are unhappy and even sometimes depressed. This is reflected in the work we do and can even result in a flop show! It is possible to get back the passion which we lost. We can do this by following and thinking about certain things. Read More

Those pesky Spring birds have woken you but instead of filling you with delight, all they do is make you grumpy? Your cat has been sick in the bathroom and your favourite shirt has found its way into the wash with your son's bright red sock? Have no fear. You are not destined to a day of long faces. You can turn this around. Here's how:
Love the little things
Have you ever noticed how little it takes to make a child smile? They don't take life anything like as seriously as us grown-ups and life is full of good cheer as a result. If you're feeling a bit low, make a decision to keep your eyes open for little things that make you smile. This might be something as simple as a cat preening herself. Who can fail to smile when she tries to lick her own back? It's always good for a giggle ;) Or for the more cultured amongst you, how about listening to your favourite radio play? And of course you could always visit your favourite uplifting website, it's sure to give you a boost Read MoreDoing something because you think you should, isn’t the way to go

By writing this I'm going to do one of two things. I'm either going to make you think that I don't know what I'm talking about or I'm going to encourage you to have the same realisation that I've had. I hope it's the latter, rather than the former.
Many of your goals, you'll never achieve!
You won't. Sorry if that's an overly honest assessment that jarrs with everything you want to believe in; but it's true.
You'll fail, not because you didn't work hard enough or didn't get good initial results, but because of your focus and the motive behind that focus. You'll sabatogue your own success before you start solely due to the focus you had as you started to formulate your ideas of success in a particular area. And it's all because your motive is wrong. I know because I've done it.
You see, if your motive for action is wrong, then you won't achieve what you want to achieve. If your motive to achieve something is driven out of hate, conformity or greed, then you'll never reach your visions and goals.

Note: The original version of this post was one I submitted on my previous blog The New Horizons Project back in 2008. I was chuffed to bits to find all of my old posts recently (as I thought that they had been lost forever) and thought that some of them were worthy of reposting here, after a little reworking that is. I will be reposting some of them here over the coming months. I hope you like them. One of the divides in the geek community is the Star Wars / Star Trek debate. It has divided friends and families for generations and will most likely result in an all out war in the future. To each side of the divide, their choice is obviously correct and no other opinion is even worth considering. Notice however that Star Wars was listed first as it is and always will be superior in every way, but that’s a discussion for another day. It’s easy to find little pearls of wisdom in just about anything if you know what you’re looking for and the Star Wars saga is jam packed full of them. So what I’ve done is pick out 6 quotes straight from wisest little green man ever to grace the silver screen and tried to provide some real world thinking to it.6 quotes straight from wisest little green man ever to grace the silver screen and tried to provide some real world thinking to it.
